Fear is Afraid?… Of What?

img_5673

Trust.

Let all the fear flow out of your fingertips. Let it all flow out of you.

Fear. We don’t need it. What we need is trust; but it’s hard to trust when this fear is captivating. Sometimes it gets a grip on us. Sometimes fear twists our stomachs into knots and tries to kill all hope of trusting.

This fear is hard to fight. We throw our fists at it over and over again and don’t seem to gain any lead way. Why can’t we get ahead? I know that fear is no weak creature. I know it’s strong, but it’s not the strongest.

Imagine us without fear. Stop for a moment. Close your eyes, and imagine yourself if fear touched you no more. Don’t imagine how you’d be if fear had never entered you heart. That fear was necessary for who you are. Just imagine life without fear, beyond this point. Go ahead, do it…

Wow. Awe struck. Right? Yea, me too. But guess what, it’s even better than that. Your life withoutl fear is better than you can imagine because it’s a life with full trust in God. Utter surrender to the God above all gods (Psalm 135:5), the God who really loves you and just sits, giddy everyday, waiting for you to come and talk. He looks at you and says, “Wow, I love that wonderful human of mine.”

What about fear then? How in this world do we accomplish a life without fear?

Fear itself is more afraid than any of us have imagined we could be. Why else would it be trying to keep us from our potential? Fear is afraid of what will happen if we step into our Higher Calling. Fear knows that if it will ever let us free, even for a moment, it will face complete destruction and annihilation.

Strange to hear. Fear is afraid. Ha! You’d never expect it, but it’s true.

“And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”

-Deut. 31:8-

We can overcome fear through Christ, Jesus. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. God is more powerful than all things. He’s not the one giving us fear. He’s giving us the power to overcome it. The Lord is our light and He is our salvation. Who can we be afraid of then? God is the strength of our life. Who will we fear? (Psalms 27:1)

It is time to live in victory over the fear that has haunted us for so long. Let the Fear be afraid of us because we have overcome it.

Here’s the Plan…

Twenty-sixteen was a blast. So many adventures filled the year. We crossed a mile high swinging bridge, climbed the Rocky stairs, danced through Time Square for the first time, hiked and wandered through the forests, chased down a few waterfalls, had my one year Blogging anniversary, and more than I can name. We’ve had the best time traveling this country (pictures at the bottom of the post) and I’ve enjoyed sharing it on this blog.

But I want to be more focused this year. I don’t want to randomly write whatever I feel like writing. I want to get us to a new place, a place of trust. Places of trust, commitment, worship, balance, prayer, consistence, and understanding in Jesus.

I want us to pull close to God this year. I want to be intentional; I want my life to be for Him.

So, in all of that, I’ve written a plan- a plan of action for myself and for you.

A goal for us to grow together, so that when two-thousand and seventeen is peeking in at another new year, we can say we worked hard to get to this place where we’re at, and this is a better place than where we started.

For every month in 2017, I’m committing to a theme. And for every week of that month, I’ll post a blog under that topic.

Hopefully I’ll be posting on Tuesdays, and on the third Tuesday of the month I’ll be featuring a guest post. Here we go.

fullsizerender

January – Prayer

February – Trust

March – Commitment

April – Consistent // Remain

May – Balance

June – The Church

July – Be Imaginative

August – Uncharted

September – The Word of God

October – Glory in His Creation

November – War

December – The Higher Call

And that will be how we build in ourselves. I feel like each month will grow off the last and our understanding will grow deeper. One will lead to the next and our hearts will want to seek God more. At least that’s my prayer— that we will be motivated to know God more.

 A Prayer for 2017

I pray, God, that I will burry the distractions and that this year will be a year of commitment to You. I pray for a real awakening in my heart. I want to wake up and seek what matters. I want to dig deep until I find You. I pray for an end to the lies I’ve been listening to and I pray for ears flooded with truth. Help me to remember that there are always new beginnings with You, God, and that with you, we are more than conquerors.
