Jesus. A Name or a Power?

What about this name. Is it only a name we call a man? Is it only a name for God?

Is Jesus only a word, with no deeper significance than any other name?

Let me tell you a little about this name “Jesus”.

In Acts 3:6, men were healed in the name of Jesus. Acts 16:18 records evil spirits being cast out in the name of Jesus. Acts 2:38 says, your sins will be remitted in the name of Jesus.

There is power in the name of Jesus!

If you’re tired, hurting, looking for an answer, or need someone to talk to, if you’re living a happy life but feel like something is missing, call on the name of Jesus. He will come to those who seek Him but you can’t just seek Him a little, thinking “well, if He comes I’ll heed to Him.” You have to seek Him with your entire heart.

Deuteronomy 4:29

“But if from thence thou shalt seek the

Lord thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him

with all thy heart and with all thy soul”.

James 4:8

“Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you….”

Stop wondering around and wishing for Jesus to come. Draw nigh unto Him. Get close to Him. Seek Him. Search for Him. He wants you to. He loves you and He’s jealous of you (Exodus 34:14, Ex. 20:5, Deuteronomy 4:24). He longs for you to come to Him because He is yours and you are His. He made you because He wanted someone to love him by their own will. The angels praised Him continuously but God wanted a creature that had a choice of whether or not to love Him and still did. Real love. A love that went both ways. He’s waiting for you.

I know we’ve all strayed. We’ve all ran from Jesus at some time or another. But here’s the thing, Grace. Yes, Grace is what He give so that no matter what we’ve done we can still come to Him with arms opened wide and He will greet us with His warm embrace.

2 Corinthians 12:9 His grace is sufficient for us.

Call on the name of the Lord.

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon

the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The name of the Lord saves us, the name of the Lord is a safe place for us to run into whenever we need. The name of the Lord is where our help is. Our grace and trust are in the Lord. Want proof. Here it is.

 Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

The righteous run to it and are safe”.

Psalms 124:8 “Our help is in the name of the Lord….”

John 1:17 ….but grace and

truth came through Jesus Christ.

So I don’t know about you, but I’m going to call on the name of the Lord today, right now. There is power in His name. “Psalms 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”

Jesus is the One we’re longing for even when we don’t know it. I pray that you will call to Him, with me.

He’s waiting for us to come humbly to Him.

Jesus I need YOU!
